Deurne Spartans Does Not Stand a Chance Against Rouen Huskies

In the remainder of the suspended game of Thursday, the Deurne Spartans were beaten up by the Rouen Huskies. The French champions needed five mercy rule innings to clinch the victory.

Rouen Huskies 28 – 4 Deurne Spartans

As the game continued where it was suspended, in the top of the second inning, with the Huskies leading 9-2, the French champions scored five more runs to take a commanding 14-2 lead.

All the Spartans could do in return came in the bottom of the second inning. With the bases loaded, Raxon Martinez Miranda reached on a fielders choice/throwing error that allowed Nabil Tauil and Cazimir Vandervelden to score. From there, the Belgian runner up of 2024 did not get past second base in the following innings.

In the following three innings, the Huskies’ offense kept beating the pitching of the Spartans. A four-run third and fourth, and a six-run fifth lead to the aforementioned final score. Those mercy rule innings were pretty much needed as the three Spartans’ pitchers had ERAs of 67.50, 16.20, and 40.50.

Axel Laval Quesney earned the win. In three innings of relief, he allowed two runs on two hits and a walk and struck out four. Jose Luis Larrinaga Ocampo took the loss. In 1.1 innings, he gave up ten runs on as many hits and three walks.

Best hitter for the Rouen Huskies was Jake MacKenzie, who went 4 for 5 with four RBI and five runs scored.

Both teams advanced to the semis as both teams beat the Vienna Metrostars.

Deurne will face the Tenerife Marlins and the other semi final will be a French affair as the Rouen Huskies will take on the Montpellier Barracudas.
