After two big surprises today, Draci Brno wasn’t able to stunt against Curaçao Neptunus. For four innings the Czech champion could keep pace but eventually, the team met their match in this game as they lost 7-2.
In the first four innings, Radim Chroust allowed only one Neptunus runner on base. But in the fifth, Neptunus pushed for three runs. It all started with a solo home run by Gianison Boekhoudt. Then back-to-back singles, a sac fly and a fielding error made Neptunus score two more runs.
But in the next inning, after Neptunus had scored another run, Draci would come back in the game as it scored twice. Two doubles, a single and a groundout drove in two. But from there the Czech offense stalled. Neptunus, on the other hand, scored thrice in the eighth inning on a home run by Dwayne Kemp to secure the win prematurely.
Pitching coach/pitcher Elton Koeiman lasted 5.1 innings for the win in which he allowed two runs on six hits and a walk as he struck out two. Radim Chroust took the loss. In five innings, he gave up three runs (two earned) on three hits and a walk and struck out two.
With seven runs on seven hits, Neptunus was much more efficient than Draci Brno as the Czechs only scored two on six hits.
Best hitter for Curaçao Neptunus was Dudley Leonora, who went 2 for 4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored.
Thanks to this win, just like Fortitudo Bologna, Neptunus clinched a spot in the semi-finals.
