Belgian Transactions For 2025: Deurne Spartans
It’s that time of the year again to pay attention to the transaction in the Belgian Division 1. This time the runner up of 2024, Deurne Spartans.
Deurne Spartans had a lot of transactions. A total of twelve players left the club or called it a career, and seven new players were added.
The players that called it a career are Leonel Reina Viant, Eder Hernan Sarao, and Brian Valdez.
The players that left the club for greener pastures are Tito Rodriguez (will be coach of the farm team of the Braine Black Rickers), Frank Prieto (will be player coach of the Merchtem Cats), Elio Fundora (Braine Black Rickers), Sam Ruyter (to Ghent Knights), Cedric Desmedt (will become coach of the youth teams of the Brussels Kangaroos), Nando Mostaert (to Oosterhout Twins in the Netherlands, but he will remain a member of the club), Mauro van Mook (see Nando Mostaert), Edgardo Nieto Castillo (to Hoboken Pioneers), Steff Roymans (quit halfway the 2024 season. Will join the Borgerhout Squirrels in 2025).
The players that were added are: Kelvin Delgado (from Brasschaat Braves), Raxton Martinez Miranda (from Brasschaat Braves), Mike de Vriendt (from Borgerhout Squirrels and will become assistent-coach), Nabil Tauil and Nasser Tauil (both from Phoenix Mont-Saint-Guibert), and Casimir Vandervelden (from Ghent Knights).
According to Pit de Bens, the 2025 season will be regarded as a transition year as the core of the flagship team has left. Spartans will try to attract several Belgian youth players.
A big thank you goes out to Pit de Bens and the chairman of Deurne Spartans, who provided the much needed information to write this blog post.
