Belgian Transactions For 2025: Hoboken Pioneers

It’s that time of the year again to pay attention to the transaction in the Belgian Division 1. We tee off with the reigning champions: Hoboken Pioneers.

As this has become a yearly routine, Pioneers’ head coach T.J. Antonacci had prepared a bit. Not that there were that many transactions for Pioneers.

Hoboken managed to keep the majority of the flagship team together.

Pioneers acquired one player from cross town rival Deurne Spartans. Edgardo Nieto Castillo or “Chamo”for short, is one of the best defensive infielders according to T.J. Next to his defense, he is a threat on the bases thanks to his speed and he brings some power to the lineup.

For the 2025 European Cup, Hoboken Pioneers will acquire an import player, likely a pitcher.

One player decided to leave Pioneers. Lino Ballardini will return to the club he left after the 2021 season, Brasschaat Braves. Ballardini is a utility player, who batted a decent .358 in 2024 with one home run and twelve doubles in 123 at-bats.

[EDIT]According to Marco Stoovelaar, RHP Zane Hendrickx will leave Pioneers for Oosterhout Twins in the Netherlands. When asked, T.J. confirmed this news but with a remark that Pioneers will ask Twins permission if Hendrickx can join Pioneers during the European Cup and during the summer break in the Netherlands. [EDIT]

A big thank you goes out to T.J. Antonacci, for providing the much needed information to write this blog post.
