2023 Dutch hoofdklasse: June 24, Match of The Day
Today, yours truly went to Oosterhout to watch the matchup between host Twins and guest DSS/Kinheim from Haarlem. It wasn’t the best of games, but at least it was entertaining, as a lot happened. Eventually, Oosterhout Twins stayed at the right side of the score.

DSS/Kinheim 3 – 11 Oosterhout Twins
Until the seventh inning, the game was a pitching duel in which, especially Twins couldn’t get a grip on the pitches of Nick Boxelaar. The starter of DSS/Kinheim was practically unhittable as he limited Twins to only four hits in the first six innings. His opponent, Takuya Fukuda, also pitched a solid game but had to surrender two runs (one earned) in the fifth.
Since Twins had problems in getting a grip on Nick Boxelaar’s pitches, it looked like the team would lose for the second time in a row. But in the seventh inning, the spell was broken and Twins sent fourteen batters to the plate. Thanks to a single by Luuk Visser and a fielding error by the catcher, Twins put runners on first and second. Pinch hitter Luuk Bun singled to left field and drove in two runs to tie the game. From that moment on, the floodgates opened. From the moment, Twins loaded the bases, the runs kept coming in, three times thanks to an HBP, once thanks to a fielding error, once thanks to a single, and once on a sac fly.
In the eighth inning, Twins would add four more runs to their total after DSS/Kinheim scored their final run in the top of the eighth.
Takyua Fukuda lasted 7.2 innings for the win. He gave up three runs (one earned) on four hits and four walks, and struck out nine. Despite six solid innings, Nick Boxelaar took the loss as he was tabbed for the go-ahead run in the seventh inning.
Average wise, Luuk bun was the best hitter for Oosterhout Twins, as he went 1 for 1 with three RBI and a run scored.
