For the change, no ballpark news from the USA. This time it comes from Korea. The Hanwha Eagles will get a new ballpark in two years. Today, the ground was broken on the construction of the new ballpark.

The city of Daejeon, 140 kilometers south of Seoul, broke ground on a new baseball stadium Wednesday with the intention to open it at the start of the 2025 season.
The new venue will be named Baseball Dream Park and will be the new home of the Hanwha Eagles, a team in the KBO (Korean Baseball Organization). The projected cost of the ballpark will be USD 123,8 million.

The current ballpark of the Eagles, Hanwha Life Eagles Park, is the oldest ballpark in the KBO, and at the same time the facility with the smallest capacity (13,000).
Designed by Haeahn Architecture and likely to be built by Kyeryong Construction Industrial, the Baseball Dream Park aims to revitalize the old city center of Daejeon and establish a new and differentiated sports complex.

The new ballpark will have some nice twists. Not only is the outfield asymmetrical also the bullpens will be two-tiered (a first in the KBO), so fans can see pitchers of both teams warm up at the same time. The dimensions will be as follows: ninety-nine meters from home plate to the left foul pole, but ninety-five meters from home to the right foul pole. The right field fence will be eight meters high, but the outfield wall will be 2.4 meters tall in other parts of the outfield. The capacity of the new ballpark will be over 20,000 and it is planned as a spectator-friendly stadium to install infield table seats as much as possible.
Amenities in and around the ballpark will include an infinity pool, a playground for children, and interactive sports exhibits.
Daejeon Mayor Lee Jang-woo stated: “We will build it into a national landmark, an arts, culture and leisure destination for everyone.”
