With the end of the transaction period in Belgian baseball behind us, it is time to pay attention to the several clubs in Division 1 and to the players they acquired and those who they lost. Today, we pay attention to the one-time Belgian champions Namur Angels
Today’s episode of “Transactions in Belgian Division 1 For the 2023 Season” will be a rather short one, as there is not much to tell about transactions for the Namur Angels.
The good news is no players left the club. Only two new players have been added to the roster. Also, the Namur Angels took advantage of the collapse of the Brussels Kangaroos.
Outfielders Sylvain de Meulder and Cédric Voet will join the team for the 2023 season.
Sylvain de Meulder wasn’t on the roster of the ‘Roos flagship team in 2022, so it is hard to get some proper stats of him. Cédric Voet was on the roster of the Kangaroos during the past season. He handled the bat rather well as he posted a .292 batting average with a .396 slugging percentage and a .321 on base percentage. With just one home run and two doubles, one can say Cédric is hitting light. But he gets on base, and that’s what it is about. Cédric wasn’t a main force in the lineup, as he appeared in only fourteen games but in those fourteen games, he did not commit an error.
Alexandre Mahot (OF) and Tom Heymans (P) will return to the club after their first year in the military.
The lineup will be enforced with at least one import player, possibly a pitcher, but the acquisition of a position player is also possible.
I’d like to thank Ronny Heymans for providing the much-needed information, which made it possible to write this blog post. Your help is appreciated.
