Gianni Frolijk Joins Mainz Athletics

The other day, the Mainz Athletics announced the acquisition of Gianni Frolijk in an Instagram post. The Dutch infielder joins the two-time German champions for the 2022 season.

After spending three years in the Dutch hoofdklasse with HCAW (2) and Hoofddorp Pioniers, Frolijk decided to take a step back to the overgangsklasse by joining RCH-Pinguïns and his brother Rossini.

Currently, Gianni is living in Mainz, so the move to join the Athletics is not a strange one. In September 2021, Gianni moved to Mainz because of his profession. Later he figured out that he had time to combine his work with playing baseball, so as a result, he joined the Athletics.

Gianni broke into the hoofdklasse with HCAW in 2015. In his first two seasons in the Dutch hoofdklasse, he batted a modest .210 (2015) and .200 (2016). After his move to Hoofddorp Pioniers in 2017, he raised his batting average to .241.

After the 2017 season, he joined his brother Rossini at RCH-Pinguïns, where he would play for four more years before moving to Germany.

Besides playing baseball, he was also involved in coaching and training youth players at the Amsterdam Diamonds Baseball Academy as an infield/hitting instructor from 2018 until March 2020.

We wish Gianni lots of good luck with the Mainz Athletics. We also like to thank Gianni for the information he provided.
