According to an article on the website of the WBSC Europe, the second edition of the Super6 tournament will be played in Barcelona next year. The tournament will take place from September 5 through September 10.
The softball version of the tournament is mentioned in the 2022 schedule on the website of the WBSC Europe and will be played on the same dates, the baseball version is nowhere to be seen yet.
The first edition of the tournament was played in 2018 as a replacement for the European Championship baseball, which was pushed back to 2019 in order to serve as a qualifier for the Olympic Qualifier.
The 2018 edition was played at the ETO Ballpark in Hoofddorp, home of Hoofddorp Pioniers. But the tournament was plagued by traditional Dutch weather and as a result, the baseball tournament could not be finished as the final two games (the round-robin game Kingdom of the Netherlands vs Belgium and the championship game Kingdom of the Netherlands vs Italy) were rained out (see video below). Based on the results, the Kingdom of the Netherlands was declared the winner of the tournament, not really satisfactory.
Anyhow, likely the WBSC Europe has learned from the 2018 edition and has decided not to let the great Dutch climate ruin the tournament.
The exact location in Barcelona is not clear yet. Since there are three baseball clubs of the Spanish Baseball League in Barcelona (CBS Sant Boi, CB Viladecans, and CBS Barcelona (offspring of FC Barcelona)), the location needs to be announced yet.
Based on the results of the 2021 European Championship, the following teams will participate in the 2022 Super6: Kingdom of the Netherlands, Israel, Italy, Spain, Czech Republic, and Great Britain.
