There was still one game scheduled today. The one between the Deurne Spartans and the Brussels Kangaroos. Where the Spartans suffered just a 2-0 loss yesterday, they were put on the rack today.
Brussels Kangaroos 18 – 5 Deurne Spartans
After the Kangaroos took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, the Spartans cut the lead in half in the bottom of the first. RBI singles by Gino Jonis and Frank Prieto Burgos drove in three runs in the third. Spartans scored an extra run in the fourth when Hsibullah Niazi stole home plate. But there the offense of Spartans stalled. The Kangaroos on the other hand were only warming up. In the sixth, the Kangaroos came along side and took a big lead when the team scored ten runs on a stolen home plate, two wild pitches, three doubles, a single and two fielders choices.
Two RBI singles, two fielders choices and a triple drove in six more runs in the seventh inning.
Mouro van Mook pitched seven innings for the win. He gave up five runs (three earned) on six hits and a walk and fanned nine. Matthew de Permentier took the loss. In 5.1 he allowed six runs (five earned) on four hits and three walks, and struck out five.
Elio Fundora Basnueva was the best hitter for the Kangaroos. He went 3 for 4 with two doubles, an RBI and three runs scored.
