Nettuno added Rhiner Cruz, former Houston Astros, Atlanta Braves and Toronto Blue Jays farmhand to their roster. The right handed pitcher pitched a total of seventy-four games in the bigs (seventy-two for Houston and two for Toronto) in which he posted a 5.20 ERA.

In the Japanese NPB, Cruz played for the Rakuten Golden Eagles in fifty-five games and posted a 3.45 ERA. During his extensive career, he was mostly used as a reliever but had one start in the minors with the DSL Mets.
