Taiwan Forfeits Right To Organize Olympic Qualifier, Tournament appointed to Mexico

And there we have it. The other day, one could read about the questionable status of the Olympic Qualifier due to the spike in corona contaminations in Taiwan. Today a Taiwanese newspaper spread the news that the island state has forfeited the right to organize the final Olympic Qualifier.

The same Twitter account, which is very well informed usually, also came with the news that the WBSC has appointed the hosting rights to Mexico.

It is not clear whether Taiwan will participate in the tournament or not. What is clear though, is that the Taiwanese government has more responsibility towards its own citizens than the Japanese government, that wants the Olympics to take place at all costs, even though the majority of the Japanese people is not in favor of that because the corona virus is still not under control.
