Yesterday you could read here about the 2020/2021 season being a tough ride. Here is another reason why.

In a statement, the Sydney Blue Sox announced the series vs the Melbourne Aces (1-1 tie) will be cancelled due to COVID-19:
”The series against Melbourne at Blacktown International Sportspark will not be completed this weekend to allow the Aces the chance to get back to Victoria ahead of likely COVID-19 border restrictions being introduced.
Tonight’s game at 7pm and tomorrow’s contest scheduled for 1pm will not go ahead as Victoria considers closing its border to New South Wales as the Sydney’s Northern Beaches COVID cluster grows.
Baseball Australia chief executive Cam Vale told theabl.com.au it was important to act quickly with the risk players could be forced into quarantine if they did not return home now.
He said the other key consideration was the risk to the broader community by fans attending a sporting event with the outbreak’s containment uncertain.
The two games will be postponed with the Australian Baseball League and the two teams to consider options regarding future rescheduling.”
This is exactly what was meant in yesterday’s blog post. Likely, this will happen more. How can you play a proper season this way? Don’t be surprised if the season will be called at one point.
