R.I.P. John Calvagno

Just a few minutes ago, I learned that fellow (minor league) blogger John Calvagno passed away. Six days ago, John was hospitalized because of sepsis, a blood infection. He was kept in a coma but eventually lost the battle.

John was a valued member of the baseball community and writer/owner of the blog “Notes from the Sally” in which he wrote about his trips to South Atlantic League games where he scouted players. In his blog posts he wrote down his findings about these players and his expectations about their development in the minors.

John will be missed.

From here I’d like to wish his family a lot of strength to cope with this terrible loss.

A go fund me page has been erected to help John’s family to deal with the financial setbacks his passing has caused.
