Holland Series 2019: Walk off walk ties series at three
In a nailbiter of a game, L&D Amsterdam Pirates tied the Holland Series at three games apiece. After trailing 3-0, the team managed to come back in the game and win in the final inning as they beat Neptunus 4-3.
After quite a long absence, Rob Cordemans took the mound for L&D Amsterdam Pirates. The choice for him by manager Finnegan didn’t pan out well as he allowed three runs to give Neptunus the lead. An RBI single by Jochem Koedijk in the second inning and a two-run homer by Gianisson Boekhoudt drove in the three runs for Neptunus.
In the meantime, Pirates was kept in check by Misja Harcksen rather well. He gave up two runs though but that was all he allowed Pirates to do in his 7.2 inning outing. The first run allowed by Harcksen was scored by Kenny Berkenbosch, who advanced to third base on a single by Delano Selassa. A fielding error by left fielder Willie Johnson allowed him to move on to home plate. In the sixth inning, Pirates inched closer when Rashid Gerard hit a solo home run to left field.
Kevin Kelly, who replaced Harcksen in the eighth inning blew the lead as he loaded the bases in the ninth before Gilmer Lampe drove in the game-tying run with a single to shortstop. When Sharlon Schoop drew a bases-loaded walk, Delano Selassa scored the winning run. A bit of an anticlimax perhaps, but a win is a win.

Jim Ploeger, who took over on the mound in the fifth inning, did not allow a hit to Neptunus, walked one and struck out two in five innings for the win.
The best hitter for L&D Amsterdam Pirates was Delano Selassa who went 3 for 4 with a run scored.
With the series now tied at three, the circus moves to Rotterdam again for the final game of the Holland Series.
