European Champions Cup 2019: Victory for L&D Amsterdam Pirates in close game

Also, today’s second Italian-Dutch matchup was won by the Dutch side. Two solo home runs gave L&D Amsterdam Pirates a 2-0 lead after four innings. Denzel Richardson connected for a leadoff long ball to left-center field in the second inning. In the fourth, hired gun Sharlon Schoop cleared the fences in center field for another leadoff solo shot. In the meantime, Kevin Heijstek cruised through the first five innings as he allowed just one hit and struck out three. But in the sixth inning, he also gave up a solo home run to Francesco Fuzzi, that allowed Bologna to get back in the game. After six innings
Heijstek was replaced by Rifaela Hernandez, which didn’t pan out very well. Hernandez walked the first two batters. He was replaced by Tom Stuifbergen who promptly retired two batters thanks to a double play. Stuifbergen also gave up a walk that gave Bologna runners on the corners but eventually he struck out Lionar Kindelan to get out of the inning without further damage. Stuifbergen pitched three innings for the save. Kevin Heijstek earned the win as he gave up one run on two hits in six innings.
Denzel Richardson was the best hitter for L&D Amsterdam Pirates as he went 2 for 3 with a home run, an RBI and a run scored.
