A heavenly PDC extension
A heavenly PDC extension in more than one way. The Los Angeles Angels extended their PDC with the Orem Owlz (advanced rookie, Pioneer League) through the 2020 season, the Owlz announced on its Instagram account.
Both teams have been partners since 2001 when the club was still in Provo (Utah) and named after the parent club.
As usual, several pleasantries were exchanged.
Owlz majority owner, Jeff Katofsky, was very pleased with the extension of the cooperation: “The Owlz have one of the longest standing affiliations with the Angels that exists in baseball. We are proud to continue our relationship with the finest organization in baseball.”
Mike LaCassa, Director of Minor League Development for the Angels, stated on his turn: “The Los Angeles Angels are excited to extend our agreement with the Orem Owlz and are proud to call this partnership one of the longest-standing relationships in baseball. We would like to thank Jeff Katofsky, Rick Berry and the Owlz front office, as well as the entire Orem community and fans, for their continued support. They are all essential assets to our player development process and an important part of the Angels’ family.”
Recently there was announced the Owlz would move to Pueblo (Colorado) as the city offered them a brand new stadium. But due to the plan’s financial concerns, the owners of the Owlz announced to stay put in Orem and the plan was abandoned by the city of Pueblo.
With the signing of the Orem Owlz, three teams in the Pioneer League remain unsigned: Helena Brewers, who will move to Colorado Springs for 2019, Ogden Raptors and the Great Falls Voyagers. Both the Raptors and the Voyagers are in the midst of the Pioneer League playoffs.
