Salt Lake Bees to welcome 12 millionth fan

The Salt Lake Bees, AAA affiliate of the Anaheim Angels in the Pacific Coast League, hosted 4,155 fans in last night’s game (a 9-3 win over the Reno Aces). With this number of fans, the club is only 10,230 away from reaching the 12 million mark.

After the Portland Beavers, who replaced the independent Portland Mavericks in 1978, moved to Salt Lake City in 1994, the club was called Salt Lake Buzz first. In 2001 the club changed its name into Salt Lake Stingers. In 2006 the team opted for Bees, a name that one of the original teams of the PCL donned as well. Besides that, the Bee is a symbol of the state of Utah. Since the inaugural year, the club has had only two parent clubs. The Minnesota Twins (1994-2000) and the California/Anaheim Angels (2001- present). Since the club has affiliated with the Angels, it has won five division championships and two trips to the finals.

The Salt Lake Bees expect to welcome their 12-millionth fan through the gates of Smith’s Ballpark during the team’s homestand (two more games vs the Reno Aces and three games vs the Las Vegas 51s). The lucky fan will receive a prize package from the Salt Lake Bees as the team celebrates the milestone.

At the arrival at the ballpark, the fortunate fan will be greeted by Bees general manager Marc Amicone, president of Vivint Smart Home Arena Jim Olson, Bees front office staff, Bumble and the HoneyBees to welcome them to the ballpark. They will receive season Salt Lake Bees team logo.svgtickets for the remainder of the Bees 2017 season, season tickets for the 2018 season and a flyaway package to see the Los Angeles Angels, along with a day pass to Disneyland in 2018 (includes airfare, hotel accommodations and tickets).

Since the opening of Smith’s Ballpark in 1994, the team averaged 7,000 fans per game over the nearly 1,700 games that were played in the ballpark. In 2016 the team broke the half-million mark for the 12th time in team history when 503,659 fans passed the turnstiles.
