Alternative location for future 51s stadium

Through the last couple of years it has become clear that the city of Las Las Vegas 51sVegas and the owners of the Las Vegas Convention Center (which is adjacent to Cashman Field) do not want to keep the 51s at Cashman Field. Since the Convention Center eyes an expansion, they want to sacrifice the stadium for that. Especially now the ballpark is crumbling down.

For a year or two, the city/suburb of Summerlin was the favorite location for the owners of the 51s, but that option has fallen through as the City of Las Vegas does not want to pay for a stadium outside its hemisphere.

But a new location popped up as a Henderson developer has pitched the Cadence area as possible location for the new ballpark of the 51s. Cadence is a planned neighbourhood near Henderson next to the Lake Mead Parkway, which is in fact an extension of the Interstate 215 and runs throuh Henderson to the shores of Lake Mead.

Cashman Field’s best days are behind it

So far the talks have only been preliminary but it is good news for the 51s that there is an alternate location near Las Vegas even though they prefer Summerlin. But since Summerlin is outside the borders of Las Vegas, that city does not want to spend on a new ballpark there, which may be understandable but on the other hand unfair because the city and the owners of the LVCC want the 51s to leave.

Things may go fast, but probably it will take at least three years before a new ballpark will be build in Henderson. And who knows what alternat location will come around the corner.

Another nice location may be just South of the Las Vegas North Premium Outlets (see yellow area below). It is close to the parking lots of the Outlet, so there will be plenty of room to park.

Perhaps something to think about City of Las Vegas?
