Rebranding season is here again
My favorite part of the baseball off season has arrived. During the off season there will always be clubs that unveil new logos, uniforms and caps. 🙂
Recently two minor league teams came up with new jerseys/ new logos for the 2016 season.
The Sacramento RiverCats unveiled their new alternate uniform for the 2016 season. The Giants’ AAA affiliation comes up with a red/orange jersey that sports the outline of California with the pilars of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay Bridge that runs from San Francisco to Oakland, pictured as well. The script says SACTOWN. With this jersey they want to emphasize their link with the Giants. The cap that comes with this jersey is a black one with a red/orange brim that sports SAC on the crown.
I wonder if this will be a best seller. Personally I think it is plain ugly.
The Hickory Crawdads, where Dutchie Juremi Profar played in the 2015 season, comes with a complete new line of logos, uniforms and caps.
The cap logos on the home cap and on the road cap do not change much. In fact the logo on the road cap remains the same, but the colour of the cap changes from black with a red brim to red with a black brim. The logo on the road cap is more polished.
All of the Crawdads new logos and colors will be utilized in brand-new uniforms and hats in the 2016 season. The ‘Dads home uniforms will once again be mainly red, but will also feature black sleeves and white piping. The jerseys will display “Crawdads” across the front in the new team font, while also using the new-look numbers on the back. The road jerseys remain all grey with “Crawdads” on the front. The ‘Dads are also introducing a new “Crawdads Blue” alternate jersey that can be worn both at home and on the road. The V-neck uniform will have the revamped “H” logo on the left chest, while also displaying white numbers on the lower right side of the front in addition to the back.

As said before, the cap logos of the home and road caps do not change much. But there is a new primary logo, secondary logo and two other logos that have been added to the new range.

The primary logo shows a couple of eyes lurking just above the water. The secondary logo shows a crawdad holding to crossed bats behind his back. This one will be worn on the powder blue alternate jersey. The North Carolina/ claw logo will be sported on the sleeves of the home and road jersey.
In my opinion, this rebranding of the Crawdads is a good one, but just with the addition of the alternate jersey of the RiverCats it is a matter of taste.
