Another promotion, but this time involving a Dutchie.

Dutch national team player Kalian Sams is a speedy guy. For his current team, the Quebec Capitales, he has stolen 30 bases
so far. Since Minor League baseball is all about promotions, the Capitales thought it was a nice idea to lure fans to the stadium with a speed race between Kalian Sams and a horse.

Recently Sams showed his speed by running the bases. His time after running 360 feet was 13.77.
On August 26 a horse will run the same distance to see who is faster. It remains to be seen if they can make a horse run the bases. I wonder if a horse can make narrow turns like a human being can.

Anyhow, so far Kalian has proved his value for the Capitales. In 73 games, Sams is hitting .279 with 72 hits, 19 doubles, 2 triples, 15 homeruns and 55 runs batted in. He may not have the best batting average on the team (that is Yuniesky Gurriel with .361), he is a threat at bat and a threat on the bases for sure.

The Quebec Capitales are in second place, trailing the current CanAm League champions, the Rockland Boulders,  by five games.

Kalian may be best known for his sacrifice fly in the decisive game in Tokyo vs Cuba in the 2013 Baseball Classic, that drove in Andruw Jones from third for the win and clinched a semi-final spot in San Francicsco.
