Misja Harcksen promoted to Ogden
Dutch pitcher Misja Harcksen was promoted from the Arizona Dodgers to the Ogden Raptors (rookie Pioneer League).
Misja signed a deal with the Dodgers at the end of 2013. He would finish high school in 2014 before heading to the US. Over the past months he was pitching for the Arizona Dodgers in Glendale. His numbers were pretty good. In ten relief appearances he posted a 1-0 record with a 1.46 ERA and two saves. He struck out eighteen and walked just two in 12.1 innings.
In the Netherlands he was pitching for (then) DOOR Neptunus. Most of the time in relief but he made a few occasional spot starts. The picture shown was in a home game vs Corendon Kinheim. He made a spot start in that game and kept the Kinheim batters in check. After he was pulled in the seventh inning, Kinheim started to hit and overcame a five run deficit to win 7-5.
I have chatted with Misja a few times. It was remarkable how patient and calm he was about his situation. Every time he put up those good numbers, I was curious if he heard something already. At least he had a great experience to have pitched under the wings of Black Jack McDowell.
