Jonathan Schoop back on O’s 25-man roster

After a throrough rehab assignment that started in Frederick (A Advanced), Jonathan Schoop is back with the Baltimore Orioles.

After a long knee injury, the infielder from Curacao played two games with the Frederick Keys in which he collected three hits in nine at bats before he would move up to AA Bowie. With the BaySox he started slowly but eventually found his groove. He stayed hitless in his first eight at bats. Eventually he homered in three consecutive games vs the New Britain RockCats.

Unfortunately Jonathan didn’t have the chance to play with his older brother Sharlon. Sharlon was promoted to AAA Norfolk shortly before Jonathan arrived in Bowie.

Jonathan returns with a batting average of .259 and three homeruns to the Bigs, the numbers that he had when he got injured after he tripped at first base.

In tonight’s game (July 5th), Schoop was in the starting lineup and he started well with a solo homerun in his first at bat.
