2015 Southern League All Star Game to be played in Montgomery

The 2015 edition of the Southern League All Star Game will be played at Riverwalk Stadium, home of the 2006 and 2007 Southern League champions Montgomery BIscuits (AA affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays) on June 23rd.
Of course this is old news, but I haven’t mentioned it before.
The All Star Game, which will start at 7.35 PM (CET) is preceded by the Southern League Homerun Derby, which was won in 2014 by Cubs’ prospect Kris Bryant.
Something unique (IMHO) is the, what they call Social.
Festivities will begin Monday, June 22 with the Southern League All-Star Social. Fans will have the opportunity to get autographs from future stars of the Major Leagues as every Southern League All-Star player will be available for an autograph session during the Social held in The Alley in Downtown Montgomery.
The Alley is a roof covered corridor in downtown Montgomery which is home to many bars and restaurants. Just like the Biscuits’ Riverwalk Stadium this was a part of a reviving project of downtown Montgomery. LIke many other
cities in the USA, downtown Montgomery deteriorated because many shops moved to malls situated in the outskirts.
Riverwalk Stadium is located at the banks of the Alabama River. The stadium is built into a former train station and was fully integrated into the old buildings of this former train freight depot.

The inaugural season of Riverwalk Stadium was in 2004. The capacity is 7,000. This stadium is an excellent example of how old buildings can be re-used instead of being demolished.
