Yankees en Dutchies in Spring Training, Monday March 9

The Yankees beat their divsion rivals, Tampa Bay, 4-3 and Didi Gregorius went 0 for 2. He got an RBI in the second inning. With the bases loaded he hit a 4-3 ground out that drove in Chase Headley. Once again the Yankees did what they are doing most this Spring Training: scoring decisive runs late in the game. Apparently the minor leaguers have a lot to prove. Michael Pineda pitched two scoreless innings in which he allowed one hit and struck out two.

The Braves beat the Nationals 2-1 and Ozhaino Albies entered the game as defensive substitution in the bottom ot the seventh. He got one at bat in which he flew out to left field. He caught one pop out hit by Tyler Moore.

The Mets were beaten up by the Marlins, but that didn’t keep Matt den Dekker to have a good game at the plate. He went 2 for 2, scored twice and drew a walk in the 13-2 loss.

The game between the Dodgers and the Giants ended in a 5-5 tie. Shawn Zarraga served as a bullpen catcher yesterday.
