Global baseball match news

EuropeToday it was announced that Andruw Jones will not join team Europe for the two game series vs Samurai Japan on the 10th and 11th of March. Jones is still trying to get a contract with a Major League club, but so far there is not much progression. There is some serious interest though from the Mexican League’s (AAA level) Leones de Yucatán (even though the Mexican League is mentioned at the website of Minor League Baseball, the league is not affiliated to any Major League team).
Jones stated that if he will sign a contract with a club, he will see his family a lot less. That is why he opted to spend the time with his family instead of playing two baseball games in Japan. The news about the call up of Jakub Sladek from the Czech Republic can be linked to this news. Sladek will replace Jones on the trip to Japan.

Today the uniform of the European team was unveiled. The uni is made by the Japanese sporting goods brand Asics.
It is a white uniform with a royal blue cap, sporting a curly E. Each uniform will have a flag of the player’s country on the right sleeve. Next to the uniform, Asics will provide batting gloves, bats, batting helmets, catchers gear and cleats to the European team.Jpeg
