Dutchies in the MLB playoffs: ALDS game 1
vs
What a night it was for Jonathan Schoop. Not only did his team, the Baltimore Orioles, win with a big margin, Jonathan himself performed very well.
In the bottom of the second inning Jonathan was responsible indirectly for the run that the Orioles scored. With Ryan Flaherty on first, Jonathan singled on a sharp grounder to centerfield on which Flaherty could advance to third base. Eventually Flaherty scored on a single hit by Nick Markakis.
For a long time the game was rather balanced. In the middle of the eighth inning the O’s were leading 4-3. Until then their offense was kept in check rather well by Max Scherzer. But after a double hit by Alejandro De Asa, Scherzer was replaced by Joba Chamberlain, which was the beginning of an eight run eighth inning.
With already four runs scored in the eighth inning, Jonathan came at bat again with runners on third and second. Jonathan jacked a high fastball offered by Joakim Soria into rightfield for a two run double.
Jonathan ended the game with two basehits out of four at bats and two RBI. He scored a run himself too.
