European Cup 2014: Results of Day Three

Next to the Belgium’s no-hitter and the perfect game by Dutch pitcher Mike Bolsenbroek, there were four other games played as well.

Spain needed seven innings to shut out Russia. Spanish starter Eric Gonzalez went six full innings in which he allowed five hits, struck out five and walked one.

Germany clinched their second win of the tournament against Great Britain.

France was no match for Italy in a game that lasted eight innings before the Italians scored the game ending run. For a moment it looked like the French could make Italy’s life hard today, but that was only after the French took a 2-1 lead in the top of the third. But a grand slam homerun in the bottom of the third ended all hopes for Les Bleus.

Once again, Croatia was the punchbag. This time vs the Czech Republic. The Czechs scored five in the eighth so the mercy rule came into force.
