Introduction
This is my very first blog about Dutch and Netherlands Antillean players in US baseball.
Let me introduce myself first.
On the world-wide-web, I am known as yankeebiscuitfan. I am a Dutch baseball nut. Since 1981 I am a huge fan of the New York Yankees. In times when the internet wasn’t even invented, I kept pace with MLB by buying American newspapers once or twice a week. I have played baseball myself. I started playing softball when I was 21, but after a few years, I made the switch to baseball.
I have played several years for the oldest existing baseball club in Europe: AHC Quick from Amsterdam, founded in 1913. AHC stands for Amsterdamsche Honkbalclub. I take much pride in the fact that I played for this beautiful ball club.
Through the years I have attended several MLB games. But since I attended my first MiLB game in 2008, I am totally hooked on Minor League Baseball. So far I have attended games at the High Desert Mavericks (Seattle A Advanced affiliation), where my daughters threw out the first pitch, at the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes and at the Las Vegas 51s. I can recommend attending an MiLB game. The atmosphere is very cozy and it is not as massive as a game in an MLB stadium.
From now on I will post at least once a week (during the season) about the Dutch and Netherlands Antillean players in US baseball. I hope you like it.
