Dutch hoofdklasse 2018: Round 10, day 2

No surprises today as DSS hosted Curaçao Neptunus, Cityside Apartments Quick Amersfoort hosted L&D Amsterdam Pirates, Silicon Storks Hosted HCAW and De Glaskoning Twins hosted Hoofddorp Pioniers.

Curaçao Neptunus  6  –  1  DSS
No blowout victory for Curaçao Neptunus but it was a clear win as DSS was limited toNeptunus only two hits by Orlando Yntema who lasted seven innings. Only in the ninth inning, DSS scored a run with Jiorgeny Casimiri on the mound. DSS was outhit 10-3.
Neptunus, on the other hand, took an early lead in the first inning when Dudley Leonora doubled home Stijn van der Meer and Dwayne Kemp. Two more runs were scored in the third inning when Quentin de Cuba doubled home Dudley Leonora. De Cuba scored on Darryl Collins’ single up the middle. Two more runs were scored in the fourth and the ninth inning. DSS
Orlando Yntema earned the win while Sander Helmendach took the loss after seven innings and five runs on nine hits and eight walks. Helmendach struck out two as well.
Best hitter for Neptunus was Stijn van der Meer, going 2 for 3 with a run scored.

L&D Amsterdam Pirates  9  –  2  Cityside Apartments Quick Amersfoort
A clear victory for L&D Amsterdam Pirates. The team scored their ninth run in theAmsterdam Pirates seventh but failed to finish the job in seven innings as the tenth run was left behind at second base as Remco Draijer flied out for the final out of the inning. Quick Amersfoort scored two runs in the ninth when Jelle Blaauw singled home Rowan van Hoek and Kevin Windster scored on Ryan Dale’s 5-3 groundout.
Kyle Ward pitched six solid innings in which he gave up only three hits and a walk and struck out six for the win. Daan Hendrix pitched three innings for the save as he gave up the two runs to Quick Amersfoort on five hits and four walks as he struck out one.
In the fourth inning, Pirates’ offense exploded. Four singles by Zerzinho Croes, Nick Urbanus, Linoy Croes and Max Clarijs, a fielder’s choice hit by Rashid Gerard, and a double by Victor Draijer drove in six runs. Three of the nine runs Pirates scored were unearned.
Best hitter for L&D Amsterdam Pirates was Victor Draijer, who went 3 for 4 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored.

HCAW  12  –  1  Silicon Storks
Silicon Storks was no match for HCAW as the team from Bussum outscored theirHCAW opponent from The Hague 12-1 and outhit them 15-5. But as seven of the twelve runs were scored in the eighth, the result may seem a bit flattered. Nevertheless, Storks never came close to the victory as they only scored once on five hits as they were kept in check by the HCAW pitching staff. Kaj Timmermans pitched six innings in which he gave up a run on five hits and a walk and struck out two. Three relief pitchers (Timo van Ancum, IanAfbeeldingsresultaat voor Silicon Storks Delamarre, and Oscar Meuris) pitched a perfect inning each. Three walks, two doubles, three singles, an HBP and a wild pitch led to seven runs in the eighth inning.
Two batters went 3 for 5 for HCAW: Jeandro Tromp and Patrick Bock. Tromp hit a double, drove in two and scored once. Bok also hit a double and drove in two but scored thrice.

Hoofddorp Pioniers  1  –  7  De Glaskoning Twins
A regular win for De Glaskoning Twins. In the third inning, the team took a 2-0 lead on aPioniers double by Jarreau Martina and a single by Dennis de Quint. After scoring a run in the sixth, Twins added three more in the seventh inning. Three consecutive walks loaded the bases before Ruar Verkerk hit into a force out at second on which Bob van der Meer could score the third run for Twins. After Verkerk advanced to second on a wild pitch, Shurman Marlin hit into a what should have been another fielder’s choice but Pioniers failed to exrcute and Jarreau Martina could score. After Marlin stole second, Sam Kennelly hit a sac fly to center field that allowed Ruar Verkerk to score but ended up into an inning ending double play as Shurman Marlin was bowled off second base after the flyout by Kennelly. Twins
In the meantime, Misja Harcksen dominated the Pioniers lineup. It took the team from Hoofddorp until the eighth inning to score their only (unearned) run. Harcksen lasted eight innings and gave up five hits and two walks and fanned eight for the win.
Jarreau Martina was the best hitter for De Glaskoning Twins as he went 2 for 2 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored. score66
