Dutch Hoofdklasse 2016: Tuesday, May 31
Tonight the game was played that was supposed to be played last Sunday.
Slowly De Glaskoning Twins must start to hate night games as the team did manage to win only two night games so far this season. Tonight it would end in a loss again.
Kinheim 12 – 7 De Glaskoning Twins
After Kinheim had a 2-1 lead after the second inning, Niels van Weert grounded out 5-3 and drove in Kevin Moesquit from third base in the top of the third inning. That would be the first run of a series of six. When Cedric Desmedt threw a wild pitch, Dudley Leonora
scored and Victor Draijer advanced to third base. After Sander Paap singled to the Desmedt, Oliver van der Wijst hit a bases clearing triple on which Paap and Draijer scored. Back-to-back singles, a wild pitch, a walk and a HBP drove in two more runs.
Kinheim would score one more run in the fifth and three more in the eighth to reach their final number of twelve runs.
Twins entered the bottom of the eighth, trailing 12-4 as they started a “rally” for three runs. Scott Ronnenbergh replaced Nick Veltkamp and started the inning with giving up two consecutive walks and throwing a wild pitch. Ronnenbergh kept struggling as he loaded the bases by walking Jarreau Martina and balked in Bart Janssen. Brian Biezen scored on a wild pitch and Jarreau Martina scored on a passed ball.
Reggie Bomberg took the mound for Kinheim in the ninth and shut the door for Twins as he gave up a lead off single to Berry van Donselaar but then retired the remaining three batters that he faced.
David Bergman took the win after 5.2 innings. Bergman gave up four runs on five hits, walked five and struck out five.
Cedric Desmedt lasted only 2.2 innings in which he gave up eight runs on ten hits and three walks.
Kevin Moesquit was the best hitter for Kinheim, as he went 2 for 3 with two RBI, three runs scored and three walks drawn.
Thanks to this result, Kinheim finishes the first half of the season in fourth place with ten wins, one tie and ten losses. De Glaskoning Twins finishes in fifth place with nine wins and twelve losses.
