Merchtem Cats @ Hoboken Pioneers, a Photo Impression
Yesterday, yours truly attended the game between the Merchtem Cats and host Hoboken Pioneers. The Cats were no match in game one, as they lost 10-0 in seven mercy-rule innings.
Even though the Cats are a very young team, it lacks some basics. For example in the first inning with the bases loaded, Veras Tiliakos grouned out 1-3. IMHO, this was a mental error as the pitcher should have thrown to the catcher, to prevent the runner from third base from scoring. Later in the game, with two outs, a full count and a runner on first, the runner didn’t start running when the pitcher started his wind up. As a result, the runner ended on second base instead of third and could not score eventually.
The game wasn’t that exciting as Hoboken was way too strong. The second game, which I did not attend, ended in a 2 – 4 win for Hoboken. Here is a photo impression of game one.
