Personal Stories About Ballcaps: The Stags
This series is inspired by the must read book “All Caps, Stories That Justify an Outrageous Hat Collection” by Craig Colby. Craig wrote this book about the many caps he has and the stories behind it. Anyhow, this series will be about the caps I own and the stories behind them.
This episode of “Personal Stories About Ballcaps” is about the cap of the club I played for in Etten-Leur, after I moved there from Amsterdam.

During my days with the Stags, they sported flex fit caps which had a very strange shape. Even though I liked the cap logo a lot, I declined on buying it.
My “career” with the club was cut short due to an injury. In previous years, I had troubles with hitting, but in 2007 we got a new coach and he advised me to adapt my stance a bit. From that moment on I started to hit. But halfway the season, disaster struck when I blew my arm out while warming up. In the one season I hit well above .450, I was not able to play anymore.
Anyhow, a few years ago, the club introduced new caps of New Era. I am not a big fan of that brand, as the quality isn’t always what you expect. But nevertheless the cap with the logo of the Stag on the front looked awesome. After a few attempts, I managed to acquire the cap in a trade for a jersey of the Dutch national team.
Have a look at this cap and judge for yourself.
