Quick Amersfoort Biggest Loser of Transaction Period
A few weeks ago, Quick Amersfoort became the victim of a decision by the Dutch Baseball Federation. The KNBSB decided to withdraw the hoofdklasse licence of the club based on the financial situation. The club protested and was equated by an independent commission. But due to this decision by the KNBSB, the club lost the main share of its roster and didn’t have enough time to find replacements.
As a result of the poor timing of the KNBSB, Quick Amersfoort lost thirteen players, that left for greener pastures. According to a source, several players had decided to leave the club even before the 2023 was over, so way before the transaction period.
Anyhow, the club that took the most advantage of the problems with the team from Amsersfoort was UVV from Utrecht. That club acquired a total of six (former) Quick players:
RHP Riley Gonesh, LHP Brian van Laar, RHP Deef van Leersum, C Lars Visser, 2B/SS Jurian Hansen, 1B/3B Marvin Jakobus, OF Jordy Burger, and OF Amar van Zwieten.
Two players went to RCH-Pinguïns: RHP Joel Martis and OF Edvin Iausquin. RHP Jasper Popken headed to Bussum to join HCAW, Jack Wagner joined Oosterhout Twins, and Ibrahin Redan moved to DSS/Kinheim.
The players Quick got in return are:
RHP Eddie Brooks (WSB)
RHP Steven Duin (didn’t play)
RHP Charlton Melaan (Almere ’90, didn’t play)
RHP Faisel Odula (Wassenaar, didn’t play)
LHP Jairo Samboe (Twins Oosterhout)
C Ben van Dulken (Twins Oosterhout farm team)
IF Joshua Ernestina (Storks)
1B/OF Finn Staal (HCAW-U23)
