Just like earlier this year, the Dutch Baseball Hangout would like to pay attention to the transactions in the Belgian Baseball Gold (BBG) League, next year called the Top League. The transaction period in Belgium ended at December 1, so time to start with the third blog post. This one is about the MSC Phoenix BSC from Mont-Saint-Guibert in Wallonia, the French speaking part of Belgium.

Because the KBBSF (Royal Belgian Baseball and Softball Federation) has decided to merge the Baseball Gold League and the Eerste Klasse into a new league that will be named Top League, Mont-Saint-Guibert Phoenix will be back at the highest level of Belgian baseball after it was demoted at the end of the 2019 season.
According to manager Jamie Flynn, most of the team of 2019 stayed together. Of course some additions were made but most of them are from the club’s own ranks.
Veterans, Xavier Pierreux and Alejandro Limonta-Padilla will rejoin the firebirds from Mont-Saint-Guibert after they missed most of the 2019 season due to injuries.
The home grown players:
Julien Muyldermans and Charlotte Meert made their Baseball Gold debut on the final day of the 2019 season. These two youngsters will be added to the Phoenix roster. The same goes for Quentin Devrees, Tomasz Oberto-Silva and Florian Colle but these three saw action a bit earlier in 2019. Another home-grown player is Natheo Collazos-Munoz , who is expected to make his debut with the first team this coming season.
According to Jamie Flynn, MSG Phoenix BSC is proud of its youth programs and anticipate more of their home-grown players to make an impact.
Two more additions from their own ranks (more or less) are David Nuñez and Jeff Rittwege, who joined the club in the past season. Originally, these two players come from the Black Rickers from Braine-le-Château, also located in Wallonia.
The final addition will be a utility player from France: Clement Noblet, who comes from the Metz Cometz, a team that played in the highest French Baseball League in 2019, League 1.
Noblet will help the team out in the areas of pitching, catching and outfield.
I would like to thank MSG Phoenix BSC’s manager Jamie Flynn for taking the time to answer my questions. Your help is really appreciated.
