What many of us feared has become a reality. Thanks to new measures to contain the coronavirus, all amateur sports leagues in the Netherlands have been cancelled and baseball is one of them.

The Dutch Prime Minister announced tonight that all amateur sports leagues for adults will be cancelled.
According to the director of the NOC*NSF (Dutch Olympic Committee*Dutch Sports Federation), Gerard Dielessen all sports but professional soccer will not be played due to the decision of the Dutch government. According to Dielessen, the NOC*NSF has lobbied for all sports federations to make it possible to keep practicing their sports but according to the Dutch Prime Minister it is an exceptional situation.
So what will happen with the Holland Series now? They cannot be finished for sure. With a 2-0 lead in games, will L&D Amsterdam Pirates be declared champion? Or Curaçao Neptunus as it finished on top of the standings at the end of the regular season? Will there be no champion this year or will both teams be called co-champs? The latter happens at times in the Florida State League when the championship series of the league is hit by another tropical storm. It is something that is done in exceptional situations… And for sure this is one.
We can expect a decision by the KNBSB in the coming days.
