Hoofddorp Pioniers loses out in strength

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor Hoofddorp Pioniers

During the 2017 transition period, Hoofddorp Pioniers has lost many players of its core. Luckily, the club managed to get players in return, but it remains to be seen if the club can play a role of any importance in 2018 with the new roster.

Dudley Leonora and Quintin De Cuba left for Curaçao Neptunus. Sander Paap and Nick Keur left for DSS in Haarlem, Maickel Rietel left for L&D Amsterdam Pirates and Glenn Wassink returns to his former club Kinheim. Shurman Marlin left for De Glaskoning Twins, Darryl Jamoena joins Storks from The Hague and Gianni Frolijk joins his brother Rossini and will play for RCH-Pinguïns in 2018. Chris Pfau will head to Bussum and join HCAW, Brennan Nijhof will hang up his spikes and where Jeffrey Arends will play next year remains a question.

Pioniers acquired eleven new players from outside the club and two players of the farm team will join their ranks.
Andrew Wanapa, Stephen Wharwood and Stephen Henson come from Curaçao Neptunus, Jelle Kroft has left Onze Gezellen (overgangsklasse) to join Pioniers.
Dion Steijl (RCH), Ibrahin Redan (De Glaskoning Twins), Damian Melis (DSS), Joey de Koning (Kinheim), Gilian van Lith (UVV), Tyler Boersma and Daniel Vos (both from L&D Amsterdam Pirates) are new to the club.  Leandro Anasagasti and Morris Wieseman move up from the farm team to the flagship team.

One has to admire the club it is not stepping back like Kinheim did last year even though the situation Pioniers is in isn’t quite the same. At least several players of the 2017 roster are staying. But Pioniers will make a new start with a new manager and (for a big part) a new roster.
