France Int’l Baseball Tournement: International Stars fall to Germany

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor Yoshida challenge 2016In a close high scoring game, both teams were almost each other’s equals but Germany just stayed at the right side of the score as they rallied in the eighth inning for the win.

In a game in which the score went back and forth, the International Stars took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a solo shot by Andrew Medeiros. But the Germans bounced back right away in the bottom of that inning as they scored two runs.

After the fourth inning, Germany had a 4-2 lead. But in the top of the fifht inning, the International Stars started a rally that put them in the driver’s seat. With runners on third and second. A single to left field by Melvin Perdue drove in Joe Randazzo and made Alex Carter advance to third. With the bases loaded, a double by Przemyslav Paluch and a single by Chad Scheilz drove in four runs for the Internatonal Stars.

A one run seventh inning brought Germany within two runs from the International Stars and in the eighth inning the Germans rallied for the win.
Eric Brenk led off the eighth inning with a single. After Jendrick Speer drew a walk both runners got in scoring position as they performed a double steal. A wild pitch by Tyson Walker allowed Brenk to score and Speer to get within ninety feet from home plate.
Lucas Jahn’s single to center field drove in Jendrick Speer. Jahn advanced to second on a wild pitch but was thrown out when he tried to get to third base. After Max Boldt drew a walk, Simon Guehring singled to center field; Boldt advanced to third on the play.
When Guehring attempted to steal second base, Boldt managed to score as catcher Juan Martin nailed Simon Guehring at second.

Maurice Wilhelm earned the win after 3.2 innings in which he allowed one run on four hits. He walked one and struck out four. Eric Brenk earned the save as he pitched a perfect ninth in which he struck out two.
Tyson Walker took the loss. He recorded one out in the eighth but gave up two runs (one earned) on one hit and two walks.

Best hitter for the Germans was Max Boldt who went 2 for 3 with a double, three RBI and three runs scored.
