Spencer Kieboom added to Nats 40-man roster

571851Spencer Kieboom, the US born catcher with a Dutch father has been added to the 40-man roster of the Washington Nationals. This will prevent him from being drafted in the rule 5 draft. As a result of this, he will receive an invitation to the Nats’ Spring Training camp next year.

Throughout his short career, Spencer has been plagued by several injuries. Also during the 2015 season he was out for a while. Eventually Spencer hit .248 with the A Advanced Potomac Nationals.

In 2014, Spencer hit a very respectable .309 with the Hagerstown Suns (A Full Season).

Just like last year, Spencer was called up for the Arizona Fall League. But there was a slight difference compared with last year. This year he had to split time with Diamondbacks’ farmhand Oscar Hernandez.

This year Spencer hit a modest .238 during the AFL, compared to last year’s .324.

During the four years behind the plate in the Nationals organization, Spencer threw out 41% of the potential base stealers.

In June Spencer was selected as starting catcher for the Carolina League All Star Game.
