Adam Warren gave up a homerun to the first batter that he faced, Michael Taylor of the Nationals. The Yankees tied it in the third when Bret Gardner drove in Jose Pirela with a single. Pirela on his turn drove in Brian McCann in the fourth to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead. After the Nats tied it at two in the seventh inning, Cole Figueroa hit a linedrive to right field that drove in Kyle Roller for the 3-2 victory.
Spencer Kieboom entered the game as a pinch hitter/DH for the Nats in the eighth inning but grounded out 6-3.
The Baltimore Orioles fell to the Minnesota Twins 2-1. Jonathan Schoop did not collect a hit in three at bats. He struck out once and left a runner on base. But Jonathan made a couple of outs: 4-6-3 double play, a 4-3 ground out, a 4-1 groud out and he caught a pop out hit by Eddie Rosario.
Xander Bogaerts was on a roll for Boston yesterday. He collected two hits out of three at bats, and drove in four (three with a homerun). The Red Sox beat the Mets 6-3.
Andrelton Simmons is still bothered by an oblique strain, so he didn’t participate in the game between the Braves vs the Astros. That game ended in a 2-2. Despite the two runs, the Braves used nine pitchers to no-hit the Astros.
