Roger Bernadina and 23 other invited for Spring Training by Rockies

Next to Jair Jurrjens and 22 others, Roger Bernadina received an invitation for the Rockies’ Spring Training Camp.

In December last year, Bernadina signed a Minor League conract with the club from Denver. The Curacao born Bernadina Bernadinaplayed a total of 548 games at MLB level.

His best season was in 2012 when he hit a respectable .291. with an on-base-percentage of .372

After 2012 his numbers dropped dramatically and the Nationals traded him to Philadelphia. For the 2014 season he signed a deal with the Cincinnati Reds. The numbers that he produced during the 2014 Spring Training could not be overlooked and earned him a spot on the opening day roster. After 49 games for the Reds, he became a Free Agent when the Reds released him. Soon the Dodgers picked him up and signed him to a Minor League deal that sent him to AAA Albuquerque.

In September shortly before he would join the Duch team for the European Cup, he received a call up to join the team in LA. The Dodgers would mainly use him from the bench.

With the Rockies outfield loaded already, it remains to be seen if Bernadina can make the opening day roster but several Rockies’ outfielders have been mentioned in trade rumours.
