Mampaey The Hawks will replace ADOLakers in Dutch Hoofdklasse
Last week I wrote about the special member’s meeting of baseball club ADOLakers. Even though the required 3/4 of the
members did not show up in the clubhouse, the available memvers voted to dismantle the club. This means that the club will be withdrawn from the Dutch Hoofdklasse.ADOLakers is the fifth club since 1988 that stops to exist.
The fact that ADOLakers is no more leaves a void in the eight team Hoofdklasse.
Last season, in the play downs, DSS from Haarlem and Mampaey The Hawks faced eachother. DSS won and was promoted to the Hoofdklasse; Mampaey The Hawks from Dordrecht was demoted to the Overgangsklasse (a league below the Hoofdklasse).
But now the Hoofdklasse was stuck with only seven teams, the Dutch baseball and softball federation (KNBSB) asked
The Hawks to return. The club eagerly embraced the opportunity.
According to the KNBSB it is a normal procedure to ask the demoted team back when a club from the Hoofdklasse pulls back.
A couple of players from ADOLakers have jumped ships and will join Mampaey The Hawks: Tim Roodenburg, Evan Simons, Kevin van Veen and Julian Goins. Eugene Henson, also coming over from The Hague, will join the coaching staff.
