Dutchies in the MLB playoffs: ALCS game 4

       vs

The playoff adventure of Jonathan Schoop and the Baltimore Orioles has ended. The Royals brought out the brooms.

The Royals took off full speed in the first inning when they put runners on third (Alcides Escobar) and second (Nori Aoki). When Eric Hosmer hit a grounder to first baseman Steve Pearce, the latter tried to throw out Escobar at homeplate. But a catching error by catcher Caleb Joseph allowed both Escobar and Aoki to score.

The O’s cut the lead in half in the top of the third inning when Ryan Flaherty hit a solo shot into the right field bleachers.

This was all both team could accomplish. Eventually Greg Holland saved the win.

Jason Vargas earned the win for the Royals by pitching 5.1 innings. Vargas allowed one run on two hits, struck out six and walked three. The three other pitchers that the Royals used didn’t allow a run and gave up two hits in total.

This is the first trip to the World Series of the Royals since 1985.

Jonathan Schoop went 0 for 1 with a walk and a strikeout.
