Europe shut out again

I have to stop saying things like “It looks like they start to hit better”. I said that in the report of the game between team Europe and team KBO. But in the last two games Europe was shutout twice. Yesterday 9-0 and today…

In the first inning the CPBL delegation got on the board on an RBI single and a two run homerun hit by Zheng Wen, who belted away the offering by Gianny Fracchiolla.

In the fourth inning Fracchiolla recorded one out before he was pulled in favour of Diego Fabiani. But Fabi ani couldn’t stop team CPBL from scoring the three runs that Frachiolla was credited for.
Fabiani lasted 1.2 innings in which he gave up one run, two walks and struck out one. Maickel Rietel, who was pulled early on Friday, pitched a perfect sixth ining. In the seventh Leonel Cespedes took the mound. He lasted    in which he gave up two runs on three hits.

Europa was kept in check rather well by starting pitcher Junyu Su. The European hitters collected several base hits, seven in total, but those hits were spread out over the game, so Europe never really became dangerous.
Urving Kemp  and Kevin Weijgertse were the best European hitters in this game as they went 2 for 4 and 2 for 3 respectively. The other hitters that got a hit were Alberto Mineo (1 for 3), Mattia Mercuri (1 for 3) and Daniel Fernandes (1 for 3).

Leonel Cespedes was replaced by Freddy Noguera in the top of the ninth. Noguera recorded two quick outs before giving up walks to Zheng Kai Wen and Zhu Yuxian. But eventually he got out of the inning without any damage.

Team Europe eventually lost 8-0.
