Dutch hoofdklasse 2017:
In a game with nothing at stake, as the positions in the regular season were set already, Curaçao Neptunus hosted Pickles UVV. Without flexing their muscles, Neptunus beat UVV 2-0.
Until the fourth inning Pickles UVV could keep pace with Curaçao Neptunus when neither team scored. But in the bottom of the fourth, Neptunus loaded the bases and Shaldimar Daantji did what he had to do: he singled through the left side to drive in Gregory Muller and Daniel Fernandes for the 2-0 lead.
In the first five innings, Kevin Kelly kept Pickles UVV in check rather well as he gave up only three hits and struck out four. In the top of the sixth inning, Kelly was replaced by Elton Koeiman.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Neptunus had an opportunity to extend their lead as the team loaded the bases, but they failed to cash in as Gregory Muller grounded out.
Neptunus did not really push any further and UVV wasn’t able to get on the board.
Neptunus used five pitchers of which only Kelly and Van Driel gave up hits (three and two respectively). The others, Elton Koeiman, Loek van Mil and Misja Harcksen pitched a perfect frame each.
Kevin Kelly pitched enough frames to earn the win. Despite pitching a decent game, Gillian van Lith took the loss as he gave up two runs in 4.2 innings.
UVV used four pitchers and next to Van Lith, Jose Moreno gave up a hit, the other two had no-hit outings. Berry van Driel earned the save for Neptunus.
Best hitter for Curaçao Neptunus was Daniel Fernandes, who went 1 for 1 and drew three walks.
