Nice gesture by Softbank Hawks and chairman Oh

In an attempt to give some children a bit of distraction after the Kuramoto Earthquake, which occurred in April, the chairman of the Softbank Hawks, Sadaharu Oh has invited 180 children of little league teams to attend a game of the team.

Legend Sadaharu Oh, played 22 seasons in the NPB, all for the Yomiuri Giants. Oh has a career batting average of .301 and still owns the career record for home runs with 868, a record in professional baseball. His record of 55 home runs in a single season was broken by Wladimir Balentien from Curaçao, in 2013.

The little league teams of the affected area will be drawn in a kind of lottery.
Oh: “We announced that we will invite baseball boys who will try their best to become future professional baseball players at six Hawks organized games to be held at the Yahoo Auction Dome in July and August during the summer vacation period.”

Currently, the Softbank Hawks are trailing the Rakuten Golden Eagles by 3.5 games in the standings of the Pacific League. The Hawks have played seven games more than the Golden Eagles.
