Jakub Sladek added to roster of team Europe

Manager Steve Jansen added one more player to the roster of the European team that will head to Japan on March 3 to take on Samurai Japan later that month.

Czech national team player Jakub Sladek was added at he last moment.

Here is his bio that I wrote for the WBSC:

As an adventurous guy, Jakub Sladek has a lot of international experience. He played for the Regensburg Legionäre in the German first Bundesliga. He played for the Gauting Indians (also in Germany) in 2011 but his playing time was limited due to Pfeiffer disease. In 2009 he played for the Philadelphia Phillies Gulf Coast team. He even made it to Japan in 2012 where he played for the Ishikawa Million Stars.

Sladek finished the 2014 season in the Czech Extra League with a .373 batting average. He collected 60 hits of which 14 doubles and 19 homeruns. His team, Kotlarka Prague, reached the championship series but fell in five games to Draci Brno.

Sladek also played for the Czech team during the World Baseball Classic Qualifiers in Regensburg in 2012. The team didn’t make the cut as Canada advanced.
