With the end of the transaction period in Belgian baseball just behind us, it is time to pay attention to the several clubs in Division 1 and to the players they acquired and those who they lost. Today we pay attention to one of the two Wallonian clubs in Division 1: Mont-Saint-Guibert Phoenix BSC.

The good news is no players left the flagship team, so the team doesn’t get weaker. The good news is also that the team added two new players.
The first one is Daan Kuenen. He will be used as a pitcher and outfielder. He is still very young and may see some playing time with the flagship team. With his previous team, the Sunville Tigers, he did a good job at bat. His team had a tough season but he was one of the standouts of the team as he hit .323 with two home runs, four triples, four doubles and a total of thirty base hits. No surprise other teams tried to lure him away.
On the mound, Daan wasn’t as impressive as he was in the batter’s box. In nine outings, of which four starts, he posted a 12.65 ERA. Of the sixty-four runs he allowed, fifty-two were earned.
The other new player, Tristan Smetz, comes from second division Andenne Black Bears. Tristan will be used as a utility player. Since there are no online stats for any league lower than Division 1, it is hard to tell something about Tristan’s performances of the 2022 season.
