Through the club’s website, Oosterhout Twins has announced the names of the 2023 coaching staff. Three new names for the hoofdklasse team, but already related to the club.
Sooner than expected, the club created a new coaching staff. The new head coach of the flagship team will be Rob Hendriks. He has a long experience as baseball coach. Rob has hoofdklasse experience as head coach of now defunct Sparta-Feyenoord (1997-1999). He also was at the helm of former Dutch hoofdklasse club The Hawks from Dordrecht and Blue Birds from Delft. In the past three years, Hendriks was head coach of the farm team of Twins. Under his leadership, the team performed very well.
Also as a player, Hendriks has more than ten years of hoofdklasse experience, mainly with Sparta-Feyenoord.
In his coaching staff, two more new names can be found. Berend Ruben and Bas Nooijens. Berend Ruben has played in the Dutch hoofdklasse for many years, mainly with UVV from Utrecht and HCAW from Bussum. In the past season, he already was a part of the farm team of Twins. According to technical director Paul Bun, Ruben has a winner mentality, perseverance, and tactical knowledge. Next to his coaching job, Ruben will be added to the roster as a player as well.
Bas Nooijens, will add experience and knowledge as a hitting coach. He is linked to Oosterhout Twins for a long time. In the nineties, he was part of the team that played in the Dutch hoofdklasse back then.
” We are happy we could create a coaching staff from our own region. This is important for the long term vision we have. From here, we can continue to build to both the team and the technical staff. We have faith in this coaching staff and the potential of the team,” according to Paul Bun.
Also chairman Kjeld Boerendonk thinks that this coaching staff is the right one to guide the flagship team.
