Today, baseballmania.eu announced that Curaçao born Urwin Juaquin will join Parmaclima Baseball for the 2021 season. Especially on the defensive side, Juaquin, who has four years in the minors under his belt, will be a reenforcement for the cheese city.
Since Juaquin is from Willemstad Curaçao, he is a Dutch citizen officially. As a result, Parma can hire him as a EU citizen.

In his four years in the farm system of the Cincinnati Reds, Urwin didn’t impress with the bat as he hit a modest .214. His best pro season was his first with the DSL Reds when he hit .253. During his minor league days, his defense wasn’t all that impressive either as he posted a .949 fielding percentage at second base, his best position. But in 2019, Juaquin joined Serie B Piacenza, back then two levels below the Serie A1. In that year, he put up some impressive numbers: a .353 batting average with thirty-six hits, eight doubles and a home run in one hundred and two at-bats. He sported a .461 slugging percentage and a .437 on-base percentage. His defense was kind of similar as in the minors, posting a .941 fielding percentage.
If Urwin can put up the numbers he did with Piacenza, he may be used as an DH mainly or otherwise as a utility infielder as he plays 3B, SS, and 2B.
